The course is a blended Paediatric First Aid course delivered via 6 hours of e-learning and 6 hours in the classroom (carrying out practical and theory assessments). The course is a Regulated Qualification and meets the OFSTED/EYFS requirements.

The e-learning module MUST be completed prior to learners attending the classroomtraining day.

The Paediatric First Aid course is advisable for all childcare settings including teachers, nursery workers & childminders requiring Ofsted approved first aid as defined within Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 & the Child Care Register guide.

  • Roles & responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
  • Assessing an emergency situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child
  • Recovery position  Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation – CPR
  • Basic AED use
  • Choking
  • Head & spinal injuries
  • Fractures, dislocations & sprains
  • Anaphylaxis & allergic reaction
  • Meningitis
  • Asthma
  • Seizures
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • Burns & scalds 
  • Electric shock
  • Wounds, catastrophic bleeding & shock
  • Temperature related issues
  • Minor injuries
  • Accident recording

Learners should have good level of fitness and be able to perform ground based practical assessments in order to achieve this award. Learners should have reasonable understanding of English to ensure understanding during course and in order to partake in multiple choice theory assessment. Learners with individual learning needs are advised to contact Skillset First Aid prior to attending the course where possible.
