Skillset First Aid provide a number of regulated qualifications to individuals, healthcare providers and businesses within Leicestershire and beyond. These course include:

Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) 3 Days

This is a 3 day Course training candidates in the skills to deal with a number of emergency suituations within the workplace or elsewhere. This is for businesses who identified the need for a person or persons to be trained in First Aid at Work due to staff numbers, risks or a combination of factors. Candidates meeting the requirements of the course will be awarded a certificate valid for Three Years

Course Content Includes:
Role and responsibilities of the First Aider
Importance of Record Keeping
Management of casualty in cardiac arrest including safe use of AED
Management of Choking casualty
Management of Casualty who is bleeding
Management of casualty with burns
Recovery Position
Correct use of the AED
Management of Casualty in Shock
Fractures
Heart Attack
Minor Injuries
Head Injuries
Management of Seizure
Other common workplace injuries and illness

Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work - Requalification (RQF) 2 Days

This is a 2 day Course refreshing candidates in the skills to deal with a number of emergency suituations within the workplace or elsewhere. This is for businesses who identified the need for a person or persons to be trained in First Aid at Work due to staff numbers, risks or a combination of factors. Candidates meeting the requirements of the course will be awarded a certificate valid for Three Years

  • Roles and Responsibilities of First Aider
  • Basic Life Support
  • Examination of a Casualty
  • Management of unconscious casualty - Recovery Position
  • Control of Bleeding
  • Fractures
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Common Illnesses
  • Heart Attacks
  • Eye Injuries
  • Dressings
  • Recording and Reporting
  • Regulations
  • First Aid Kits

Candidates on this course will already hold a suitable First Aid at Work qualification that requires refreshing. You will be asked to verify issuer of existing certificate prior to attendance and will be required to show certificate prior to course commencement. Successful candidates will be issued with certificate valid for three years,

Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work  - (RQF) 1 Day

 Course content includes:

  • Roles and Responsibilities of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Management of casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure
  • Administer CPR
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock
  • Choking
  • Minor Injuries

Successful candidates will receive a certificate valid for a period of three. It is recommended that annual refresher training is undertaken.

Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (Ofsted Recognised)  - (RQF) 2 Days

This Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification is ideal for:

  • those who work with, or intend to work with children in a childcare setting as it is designed to fulfill Ofsted's first aid requirements for early years teachers, nursery workers and childminders as defined within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and within the Child Care Register guide.

The Course content includes:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
  • assessing an Emergency Situation
  • Provide first aid to an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Injuries to bones and joints
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  • Chronic medical condition or sudden illness
  • Effects of extreme heat and cold

Qualsafe Awards Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe use of AED  - RQF Half Day. Course available on request. Please enquire

The  Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation is designed to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding in the provision of Basic Life Support/CPR and of the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This qualification is ideal for workplaces where an AED is now available.

Course content:

  • Identifying person who is in cardiac arrest
  • Summon professional help as soon as possible
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Safe use of the AED
  • Managing the unconscious Casualty (Recovery Position)
